Mount Airy Granite Bears (Mount Airy, NC) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host South Stokes Sauras (Walnut Cove, NC), 35-29 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Mount Airy upgrades its record to 1-0 on the campaign. The Granite Bears host Starmount (Boonville, NC) to play the Rams in a non-league bout on Friday, December 16. The Rams come into the bout with a record of 4-2. Starmount won 41-39 in their recent non-league bout against North Stokes (Danbury, NC)

Next up, the Sauras play the East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 16. South Stokes will attempt to upgrade on its 2-5 season record. The Cardinals come into the bout with a 4-1 record after their 42-39 non-league win over West Iredell (Statesville, NC).
