The East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC) basketball knocked off the host West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC), 71-63 in Wednesday's non-league test.
The Cardinals (3-2) will now prepare for their test against Mount Airy (Mount Airy, NC). The Granite Bears go into the 1A Northwest test with a 1-0 record. In their last test, Mount Airy notched a victory over East Surry (Pilot Mountain, NC), 57-52, in a non-league test.
The Blackhawks now own a 2-5 record. They play next when they host Surry Central for a 2A Foothills test on Friday, December 15. West Wilkes will encounter a Golden Eagles squad coming off a 66-63 non-league loss to South Stokes (Walnut Cove, NC). The Golden Eagles record now stands at 3-3.
