    The East Wilkes Cardinals basketball team scored 60 points and held the host West Wilkes Blackhawks to 51 in the Cardinals non-league triumph on Wednesday.

    The Cardinals now sport a 4-4 record. They put it on the line next when they host Mount Airy for a 1A Northwest contest on Friday, December 15. East Wilkes will battle a Granite Bears team coming off a 57-11 non-league loss to East Surry (Pilot Mountain, NC). The Granite Bears record now stands at 0-1.

    The Blackhawks (5-3) will now prepare for their contest against Surry Central (Dobson, NC). The Golden Eagles enter the 2A Foothills contest with a 5-0 record. In their last contest, Surry Central ran past North Stokes (Danbury, NC), 54-52, in a non-league contest.
