The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Union Bears (Big Stone Gap, VA) and the visiting J.I. Burton Black Raiders (Norton, VA), observed Union's basketball team overcome J.I. Burton by a score of 49-35.
The Bears (1-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Grundy (Grundy, VA). The Golden Wave come into the non-league challenge with a 3-2 record. In their last challenge, Grundy dropped by Richlands (Richlands, VA), 51-48, in a non-league challenge.
In their next game, the Black Raiders battle the Appalachian Christian HomeSchool Warriors (Abingdon, VA) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, December 20. J.I. Burton will attempt to improve on its 0-2 season record.
