The Lanier Longhorns (Sugar Hill, GA) basketball edged the visiting Gainesville Red Elephants (Gainesville, GA), 49-44 in Friday's league bout.

The Longhorns now possess a 5-6 record. They play next when they travel to Morgan County for a non-league bout on Tuesday, December 17. Lanier will play a Bulldogs team coming off a 45-43 non-league loss to Putnam County (Eatonton, GA). The Bulldogs record now stands at 5-6.

With the loss, Gainesville falls to 6-3 on the campaign. The Red elephants travel to Cherokee Bluff (Flowery Branch, GA) to play the Bears in a non-league bout on Thursday, December 19. The Bears go into the bout with a record of 7-3. Cherokee Bluff won 57-37 in their recent non-league bout against Gilmer (Ellijay, GA)
