In Friday's non-league contest, the host Mayo Spartans basketball team scored a big 83-29 triumph over the Mankato West Scarlets.

The Spartans (5-3) will now prepare for their contest against Red Wing (Red Wing, MN). The Wingers go into the non-league contest with a 7-1 record. In their last contest, Red Wing smashed Faribault (Faribault, MN), 61-50, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Scarlets battle the St. Peter Saints (St. Peter, MN) in a AAA Section 2 contest, on Saturday, December 14. Mankato West will attempt to better on its 3-7 season record. The Saints go into the contest with a 4-1 record after their 72-60 non-league win over Glencoe-Silver Lake (Glencoe, MN).
