Dan River Wildcats (Ringgold, VA) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Patrick County Cougars (Stuart, VA), 53-52 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Dan River upgrades its record to 3-3 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Bassett (Bassett, VA) to play the Bengals in a non-league bout on Monday, December 18. The Bengals come into the bout with a record of 2-6. Bassett won 56-48 in their recent league bout against Magna Vista (Ridgeway, VA)

Next up, the Cougars play the Carlisle Chiefs (Axton, VA) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, December 16. Patrick County will attempt to upgrade on its 1-6 season record. The Chiefs come into the bout with a 6-5 record after their 65-62 non-league win over Northside (Roanoke, VA).
