Newark Collegiate Academy Panthers (Newark, NJ) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Barringer Blue Bears (Newark, NJ), 62-42 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Newark Collegiate Academy upgrades its record to 1-0 on the season. The Panthers travel to Nutley (Nutley, NJ) to clash with the Maroon Raiders in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Maroon Raiders go into the bout with a record of 0-2.

Next up, the Blue Bears clash with the Shabazz Bulldogs (Newark, NJ) in a Super Essex - Colonial bout, on Saturday, December 17. Barringer will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a 1-0 record after their 47-41 non-league win over Science Park (Newark, NJ).
