Simon Kenton Pioneers (Independence, KY) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Walton-Verona Bearcats (Walton, KY), 58-25 in a league bout.

With the victory, Simon Kenton upgrades its record to 7-1 on the campaign. The Pioneers travel to Bowling Green (Bowling Green, KY) to play the Purples in a non-league bout on Tuesday, December 19. The Purples come into the bout with a record of 5-0. Bowling Green won 46-27 in their recent non-league bout against Rossview (Clarksville, TN)

Next up, the Bearcats play the North Oldham Mustangs (Goshen, KY) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, December 16. Walton-Verona will attempt to upgrade on its 2-5 season record. The Mustangs come into the bout with a 2-5 record after their 45-37 non-league loss to Boyle County (Danville, KY).
