Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Salem Spartans (Salem, VA) and the visiting Cave Spring Knights (Roanoke, VA), saw Salem's basketball squad hold off Cave Spring by a tally of 52-49.

With the victory, Salem improves its record to 3-1 on the campaign. The Spartans travel to Lord Botetourt (Daleville, VA) to play the Cavaliers in a non-league challenge on Saturday, December 16. The Cavaliers come into the challenge with a record of 1-4.

The Knights (3-3) will now prepare for their battle against Patrick Henry (Roanoke, VA). The Patriots come into the non-league battle with a 2-2 record. In their last battle, Patrick Henry edged Christiansburg (Christiansburg, VA), 67-24, in a non-league battle.
