Shallowater Mustangs (Shallowater, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Lubbock Westerners (Lubbock, TX), 65-48 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Shallowater upgrades its record to 8-0 on the campaign. The Mustangs travel to Estacado (Lubbock, TX) to play the Matadors in a non-league bout on Monday, December 19. The Matadors come into the bout with a record of 7-9. Estacado won 86-44 in their recent non-league bout against Austin (El Paso, TX)

Next up, the Westerners play the Cooper Pirates (Lubbock, TX) in a 5A Region I District 4 bout, on Tuesday, December 20. Lubbock will attempt to upgrade on its 3-14 season record. The Pirates come into the bout with a 9-6 record after their 61-58 non-league loss to San Angelo Central (San Angelo, TX).
