West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting North Wilkes Vikings (Hays, NC), 74-72 in a league bout.

With the victory, West Wilkes upgrades its record to 3-6 on the campaign. The Blackhawks travel to East Wilkes (Ronda, NC) to play the Cardinals in a non-league bout on Monday, December 19. The Cardinals come into the bout with a record of 3-4. East Wilkes lost 83-51 in their recent league bout against South Stokes (Walnut Cove, NC)

Next up, the Vikings play the Alleghany Trojans (Sparta, NC) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 20. North Wilkes will attempt to upgrade on its 4-5 season record. The Trojans come into the bout with a 3-4 record after their 81-46 league loss to North Stokes (Danbury, NC).
