Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds (Winthrop, MN) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Sibley East Wolverines (Arlington, MN), 65-49 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop upgrades its record to 1-2 on the season. The Thunderbirds host Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart (Hector, MN) to clash with the Mustangs in a A Section 2 bout on Friday, January 6. The Mustangs go into the bout with a record of 5-0.

Next up, the Wolverines clash with the Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds (Winthrop, MN) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 9. Sibley East will attempt to upgrade on its 1-4 season record.
