Bland County Bears (Rocky Gap, VA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA), 48-43 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Bland County upgrades its record to 5-1 on the season. The Bears host Narrows (Narrows, VA) to play the Green Waves in a non-league bout on Monday, December 19. The Green Waves go into the bout with a record of 1-1. Narrows lost 36-35 in their recent non-league bout against Parry McCluer (Buena Vista, VA)

Next up, the Maroon Tide play the George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 20. Galax will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record. The Maroons go into the bout with a 2-0 record after their 34-32 non-league win over Auburn (Riner, VA).
