North Carolina High School Basketball - Alexander Central thwarts Newton-Conover

The crowd at Monday's non-league challenge between the Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) and the visiting Newton-Conover Red Devils (Newton, NC), observed Alexander Central's basketball team knock off Newton-Conover by a score of 47-37.

The Cougars (5-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Davie (Mocksville, NC). The War Eagles come into the non-league challenge with a 5-2 record. In their last challenge, Davie prevailed over East Forsyth (Kernersville, NC), 52-46, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Red Devils encounter the Lincolnton Wolves (Lincolnton, NC) in a 2A Catawba Valley challenge, on Friday, December 20. Newton-Conover will attempt to improve on its 5-1 season record. The Wolves come into the challenge with a 5-2 record after their 70-56 league win over Bunker Hill (Claremont, NC).
