Hemphill Hornets (Hemphill, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Huntington Red Devils (Huntington, TX), 48-44 in a league bout.

With the victory, Hemphill upgrades its record to 8-6 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to Pollok Central (Pollok, TX) to play the Bulldogs in a 3A Region III District 21 bout on Friday, January 5. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 14-6.

Next up, the Red Devils play the Evadale Rebels (Evadale, TX) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, December 27. Huntington will attempt to upgrade on its 3-13 season record. The Rebels come into the bout with a 10-8 record after their 67-63 non-league loss to Corrigan-Camden (Corrigan, TX).
