Pinon Eagles (Pinon, AZ) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Valley Pirates (Sanders, AZ), 66-56 in a league bout.

With the win, Pinon upgrades its record to 5-4 on the season. The Eagles host St. Johns (St. Johns, AZ) to clash with the Redskins in a 2A North bout on Wednesday, December 20. The Redskins go into the bout with a record of 3-7. St. Johns lost 58-32 in their recent league bout against Round Valley (Eagar, AZ)

Next up, the Pirates clash with the Greyhills Academy Knights (Tuba City, AZ) in a 2A North bout, on Thursday, December 21. Valley will attempt to upgrade on its 1-9 season record. The Knights go into the bout with a 1-6 record after their 62-45 league loss to Many Farms (Many Farms, AZ).
