Newton County Academy Generals (Decatur, MS) supporters left the game happy Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad triumph over the visiting Sylva Bay Academy Saints (Bay Springs, MS), 56-27 in a league match.

With the victory, Newton County Academy advances its record to 3-0 on the year. The Generals host Laurel Christian (Laurel, MS) to meet the Lions in a MAIS 3A District 3 match on Friday, January 17. The Lions enter the match with a record of 4-3.

The Saints now own a 8-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Enterprise for a non-league match on Friday, January 3. Sylva Bay Academy will meet a Bulldogs squad coming off a 44-17 non-league win over Stringer (Stringer, MS). The Bulldogs record now stands at 9-7.
