Piper Pirates (Kansas City, KS) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Leavenworth PIONEERS (Leavenworth, KS), 49-47 in a league bout.

With the win, Piper upgrades its record to 1-0 on the season. The Pirates travel to Sumner Academy (Kansas City, KS) to play the Sabres in a non-league bout on Friday, December 9. The Sabres go into the bout with a record of 0-0.

Next up, the PIONEERS play the Basehor-Linwood Bobcats (Basehor, KS) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Leavenworth will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record.
