Hawley Bearcats (Hawley, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Stamford Bulldogs (Stamford, TX), 49-41 in a league bout.

With the win, Hawley upgrades its record to 1-1 on the season. The Bearcats host Anson (Anson, TX) to play the Tigers in a 2A Region II District 10 bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Tigers go into the bout with a record of 5-9. Anson lost 68-32 in their recent league bout against Cisco (Cisco, TX)

Next up, the Bulldogs play the Haskell Indians (Haskell, TX) in a 2A Region II District 10 bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Stamford will attempt to upgrade on its 3-7 season record.
