The Yates Lions (Houston, TX) basketball were winner over the visiting Wheatley Wildcats (Houston, TX), 71-61 in Friday's non-league bout.

The Lions now possess a 10-4 record. They play next when they travel to Furr for a 4A Region III District 20 bout on Tuesday, January 7. Yates will play a Brahmans team coming off a 79-22 league win over North Forest (Houston, TX). The Brahmans record now stands at 6-3.

With the loss, Wheatley falls to 11-3 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Catholic (Baton Rouge, LA) to play the Bears in a non-league bout on Saturday, December 28. The Bears go into the bout with a record of 13-1. Catholic won 72-49 in their recent non-league bout against Archbishop Rummel (Metairie, LA)
