Florida High School Basketball - Astronaut trounced by Merritt Island

Merritt Island Mustangs (Merritt Island, FL) supporters left the game happy Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad triumph over the visiting Astronaut War Eagles (Titusville, FL), 50-19 in a non-league match.

With the victory, Merritt Island advances its record to 1-8 on the year. The Mustangs host Port St. Lucie (Port St. Lucie, FL) to meet the Jaguars in a non-league match on Wednesday, January 8. The Jaguars enter the match with a record of 1-5.

The War Eagles now own a 1-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Cocoa Beach for a 3A District 7 match on Tuesday, January 7. Astronaut will meet a Minutemen squad coming off a 2-0 non-league loss to Merritt Island Christian (Merritt Island, FL). The Minutemen record now stands at 3-10.
