The Marengo Panthers (Dixons Mills, AL) basketball toppled the visiting Johnson Eagles (Thomaston, AL), 55-40 in Friday's non-league bout.
The Panthers now possess a 7-2 record. They play next when they travel to Choctaw County for a 1A Area 4 bout on Friday, January 3. Marengo will play a Tigers team coming off a 49-33 non-league loss to Southern Choctaw (Gilbertown, AL). The Tigers record now stands at 3-8.
With the loss, Johnson falls to 5-2 on the campaign. The Eagles host Hatch (Uniontown, AL) to play the Bobcats in a 1A Area 5 bout on Friday, December 27. The Bobcats go into the bout with a record of 10-2. Hatch won 59-13 in their recent league bout against University Charter (Livingston, AL)
