The Byron Tigers basketball team scored 57 points and restricted the host Newman Central Catholic Comets to 40 in the Tigers non-league victory on Thursday.

The Tigers now sport a 8-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Illinois Valley Central for a non-league contest on Thursday, December 28. Byron will battle a Grey Ghosts team coming off a 65-48 non-league win over Midland (Varna, IL). The Grey Ghosts record now stands at 6-5.

The Comets (7-6) will now prepare for their contest against Forreston (Forreston, IL). The Cardinals come into the non-league contest with a 3-6 record. In their last contest, Forreston prevailed over Orangeville (Orangeville, IL), 46-43, in a non-league contest.
