Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights (Las Vegas, NV) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Cheyenne Desert Shields (North Las Vegas, NV), 42-40 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Mater Academy East Las Vegas upgrades its record to 4-3 on the campaign. The Knights host Villa Park (Villa Park, CA) to play the Spartans in a non-league bout on Wednesday, December 27. The Spartans come into the bout with a record of 6-5. Villa Park won 52-33 in their recent non-league bout against Ramona (Riverside, CA)

Next up, the Desert Shields play the Bonanza Bengals (Las Vegas, NV) in a 4A Sky bout, on Thursday, January 4. Cheyenne will attempt to upgrade on its 2-6 season record. The Bengals come into the bout with a 1-3 record after their 84-29 league loss to Legacy (North Las Vegas, NV).
