In Saturday's non-league contest, the visiting Pierce Bears basketball team scored a close 56-51 win over the Corning Cardinals.

The Bears (8-4) will now prepare for their contest against Bear River (Grass Valley, CA). The Bruins come into the non-league contest with a 5-2 record. In their last contest, Bear River edged Fortune Early College (Sacramento, CA), 52-43, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Cardinals battle the Enterprise Hornets (Redding, CA) in a non-league contest, on Monday, January 6. Corning will attempt to better on its 5-7 season record.
