The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the El Capitan Gauchos (Merced, CA) and the visiting Downey Knights (Modesto, CA), observed El Capitan's basketball team overwhelm Downey by a score of 60-36.

The Gauchos (8-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Ripon (Ripon, CA). The Indians come into the non-league challenge with a 6-7 record. In their last challenge, Ripon was routed by Gregori (Modesto, CA), 67-61, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Knights encounter the Pleasant Valley Vikings (Chico, CA) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, December 28. Downey will attempt to improve on its 2-8 season record. The Vikings come into the challenge with a 4-6 record after their 57-32 non-league loss to Clovis East (Clovis, CA).
