In Friday's non-league contest, the visiting Panther Valley Panthers basketball team scored a close 49-45 triumph over the Jim Thorpe Olympians.

The Panthers (7-3) will now prepare for their contest against Marian Catholic (Tamaqua, PA). The go into the non-league contest with a 5-3 record. In their last contest, Marian Catholic nipped MMI Preparatory School (Freeland, PA), 58-28, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Olympians confront the Bangor Slaters (Bangor, PA) in a non-league contest, on Monday, January 6. Jim Thorpe will attempt to better on its 1-6 season record.
