Sewickley Academy (Sewickley, PA) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Northgate Flames (Pittsburgh, PA), 37-20 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Sewickley Academy upgrades its record to 3-3 on the campaign. The host Freedom Area (Freedom, PA) to play the Bulldogs in a WPIAL 2A 1 bout on Monday, January 2. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 7-1. Freedom Area won 56-48 in their recent league bout against Shenango (New Castle, PA)

Next up, the Flames play the Burgettstown Blue Devils (Burgettstown, PA) in a WPIAL 2A 2 bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Northgate will attempt to upgrade on its 0-6 season record. The Blue Devils come into the bout with a 5-4 record after their 47-46 non-league loss to Quaker Valley (Leetsdale, PA).
