Elverado Falcons (Elkville, IL) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Cobden Appleknockers (Cobden, IL), 42-41 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Elverado upgrades its record to 4-7 on the campaign. The Falcons host Meridian (Mounds, IL) to play the Bobcats in a South Egyptian bout on Thursday, January 4. The Bobcats come into the bout with a record of 8-4. Meridian won 75-48 in their recent non-league bout against Carlyle (Carlyle, IL)

Next up, the Appleknockers play the Egyptian Pharaohs (Tamms, IL) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 29. Cobden will attempt to upgrade on its 7-6 season record. The Pharaohs come into the bout with a 4-12 record after their 71-49 non-league loss to Century (Ullin, IL).
