St. Anthony Bulldogs (Effingham, IL) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Mattoon Greenwave (Mattoon, IL), 59-56 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, St. Anthony upgrades its record to 11-2 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to Highland (Highland, IL) to play the Bulldogs in a non-league bout on Saturday, December 30. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 8-7. Highland won 55-45 in their recent non-league bout against Teutopolis (Teutopolis, IL)

Next up, the Greenwave play the Brooks Eagles (Chicago, IL) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 29. Mattoon will attempt to upgrade on its 5-7 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 1-11 record after their 57-43 non-league loss to Oak Lawn (Oak Lawn, IL).
