Gatesville Hornets (Gatesville, TX) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Whitney Wildcats (Whitney, TX), 45-31 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Gatesville upgrades its record to 7-11 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to West (West, TX) to play the Trojans in a non-league bout on Thursday, December 28. The Trojans come into the bout with a record of 17-1. West won 63-30 in their recent non-league bout against Life Waxahachie (Waxahachie, TX)

Next up, the Wildcats play the Maypearl Panthers (Maypearl, TX) in a 3A Region III District 17 bout, on Friday, January 5. Whitney will attempt to upgrade on its 7-11 season record. The Panthers come into the bout with a 12-9 record after their 66-42 non-league loss to Paradise (Paradise, TX).
