Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Velva Aggies (Velva, ND) and the visiting New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets (New Rockford, ND), saw Velva's basketball squad hold off New Rockford-Sheyenne by a tally of 47-42.

With the victory, Velva improves its record to 4-5 on the campaign. The Aggies host Westhope/Newburg (Westhope, ND) to play the Sioux in a B District 8 challenge on Monday, January 8. The Sioux come into the challenge with a record of 1-7.

Next up, the Rockets play the Benson County [Leeds/Maddock] Wildcats (Leeds, ND) in a B District 4 challenge, on Friday, January 5. New Rockford-Sheyenne will attempt to improve on its 1-5 season record. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a 6-3 record after their 67-50 league win over Hatton/Northwood (Northwood, ND).
