Mellen Granite Diggers (Mellen, WI) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Birchwood Bobcats (Birchwood, WI), 64-42 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Mellen upgrades its record to 3-2 on the season. The Granite Diggers travel to Drummond (Drummond, WI) to clash with the Lumberjacks in a Indianhead bout on Monday, January 2. The Lumberjacks go into the bout with a record of 5-0. Drummond won 60-57 in their recent non-league bout against Frederic (Frederic, WI)

Next up, the Bobcats clash with the Webster Tigers (Webster, WI) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Birchwood will attempt to upgrade on its 0-4 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 2-1 record after their 70-45 league loss to Unity (Balsam Lake, WI).
