The Cumberland Pirates basketball team scored 53 points and held the host Okaw Valley Timberwolves to 39 in the Pirates non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Pirates now sport a 7-8 record. They put it on the line next when they host Heritage for a Lincoln Prairie contest on Tuesday, January 3. Cumberland will battle a Hawks team coming off a 71-31 non-league loss to Indiana Math & Science Academy North (Indianapolis, IN). The Hawks record now stands at 3-11.

The Timberwolves (5-9) will now prepare for their contest against Cerro Gordo/Bement (Cerro Gordo, IL). The Broncos enter the Lincoln Prairie contest with a 8-7 record. In their last contest, Cerro Gordo/Bement was defeated by Hoopeston (Hoopeston, IL), 65-53, in a non-league contest.
