Columbus Falcons (Columbus, MS) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host New Hope Trojans (Columbus, MS), 57-54 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Columbus upgrades its record to 14-3 on the season. The Falcons host Ridgeland (Ridgeland, MS) to play the Titans in a 6A Region 2 bout on Tuesday, January 2. The Titans go into the bout with a record of 12-5. Ridgeland won 71-53 in their recent non-league bout against Pearl (Pearl, MS)

Next up, the Trojans play the Clarksdale Wildcats (Clarksdale, MS) in a 5A Region 1 bout, on Friday, January 5. New Hope will attempt to upgrade on its 14-2 season record. The Wildcats go into the bout with a 6-12 record after their 60-49 non-league win over Wingfield (Jackson, MS).
