North Carolina High School Basketball - Maiden can't hold off Newton-Conover

December 29, 2023: Maiden, NC 28650

The Newton-Conover Red Devils basketball team scored 77 points and held the host Maiden Blue Devils to 73 in the Red Devils non-league triumph on Friday.

The Red Devils now sport a 6-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Lincolnton for a 2A Catawba Valley contest on Friday, January 5. Newton-Conover will battle a Wolves team coming off a 72-54 non-league win over East Gaston (Mt. Holly, NC). The Wolves record now stands at 10-1.

The Blue Devils (7-4) will now prepare for their contest against West Lincoln (Lincolnton, NC). The Rebels enter the 2A Catawba Valley contest with a 2-9 record. In their last contest, West Lincoln was nudged by Stuart W. Cramer (Belmont, NC), 72-68, in a non-league contest.
