The Nixon-Smiley Mustangs basketball team (Nixon, TX), dropped 44-26 in Friday's non-league battle with the visiting Hondo Owls (Hondo, TX)

The Owls now sport a 11-7 record. They put it on the line next when they host Comfort for a non-league battle on Tuesday, January 2. Hondo will battle a Bobcats/Deer team coming off a 53-34 non-league loss to Fox Tech (San Antonio, TX). The Bobcats/Deer record now stands at 1-10.

The Mustangs (5-18) will now prepare for their battle against Luling (Luling, TX). The Eagles come into the 3A Region IV District 26 battle with a 2-13 record. In their last battle, Luling dropped by El Campo (El Campo, TX), 52-41, in a non-league battle.
