Wilcox Chargers (Santa Clara, CA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Fremont Firebirds (Sunnyvale, CA), 61-50 in a league bout.

With the victory, Wilcox upgrades its record to 6-5 on the campaign. The Chargers host Silver Creek (San Jose, CA) to play the Raiders in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Raiders come into the bout with a record of 3-6. Silver Creek lost 72-45 in their recent non-league bout against Carmel (Carmel, CA)

Next up, the Firebirds play the Monta Vista Matadors (Cupertino, CA) in a Santa Clara Valley - El Camino bout, on Wednesday, January 4. Fremont will attempt to upgrade on its 5-5 season record. The Matadors come into the bout with a 4-6 record after their 63-53 league loss to Lynbrook (San Jose, CA).
