Nimitz Cougars (Houston, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Goose Creek Memorial Patriots (Baytown, TX), 71-58 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Nimitz upgrades its record to 13-7 on the season. The Cougars travel to Benjamin Davis (Houston, TX) to play the Falcons in a 6A Region II District 14 bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Falcons go into the bout with a record of 10-8. Benjamin Davis lost 58-50 in their recent non-league bout against Seven Lakes (Katy, TX)

Next up, the Patriots play the Barbers Hill Eagles (Mt. Belvieu, TX) in a 5A Region III District 17 bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Goose Creek Memorial will attempt to upgrade on its 9-12 season record. The Eagles go into the bout with a 17-4 record after their 78-48 non-league win over Buna (Buna, TX).
