Piute Thunderbirds (Junction, UT) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting North Sevier Wolves (Salina, UT), 58-49 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Piute upgrades its record to 8-2 on the season. The Thunderbirds travel to Diamond Ranch Academy (Hurricane, UT) to play the Diamondbacks in a 1A Region 20 bout on Thursday, January 5. The Diamondbacks go into the bout with a record of 3-6. Diamond Ranch Academy lost 77-46 in their recent non-league bout against Tabiona (Tabiona, UT)

Next up, the Wolves play the Bryce Valley Mustangs (Tropic, UT) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 3. North Sevier will attempt to upgrade on its 4-6 season record. The Mustangs go into the bout with a 3-6 record after their 51-45 non-league loss to Tabiona (Tabiona, UT).
