In Friday's non-league outing, the Parry McCluer Fighting Blues (Buena Vista, VA) basketball squad edged the host Riverheads Gladiators (Staunton, VA), by a count of 49-44.
The Fighting Blues (4-5) will now prepare for their outing against Highland (Monterey, VA). The Rams go into the Pioneer outing with a 1-3 record. In their last outing, Highland was tipped by Eastern Montgomery (Elliston, VA), 56-52, in a league outing.
The Gladiators now hold a 2-4 record. They play next when they host Buffalo Gap for a Shenandoah outing on Tuesday, January 3. Riverheads will clash with a Bison squad coming off a 45-43 non-league loss to Central Woodstock (Woodstock, VA). The Bison record now stands at 6-4.
