Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions (Kingsville, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the host Premont Cowboys (Premont, TX), 76-27 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Santa Gertrudis Academy upgrades its record to 14-6 on the campaign. The Lions travel to Mathis (Mathis, TX) to play the Pirates in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Pirates come into the bout with a record of 8-13. Mathis lost 48-32 in their recent non-league bout against Annapolis Christian Academy (Corpus Christi, TX)

Next up, the Cowboys play the Santa Maria Cougars (Santa Maria, TX) in a 2A Region IV District 32 bout, on Friday, January 6. Premont will attempt to upgrade on its 2-16 season record.
