Northwestern Area Wildcats (Mellette, SD) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Wilmot Wolves (Wilmot, SD), 52-28 in a league bout.

With the win, Northwestern Area upgrades its record to 1-1 on the season. The Wildcats host Waverly/South Shore (Waverly, SD) to clash with the Coyotes in a B Region 1 bout on Monday, January 2. The Coyotes go into the bout with a record of 1-4. Waverly/South Shore lost 67-9 in their recent non-league bout against Groton (Groton, SD)

Next up, the Wolves clash with the Leola/Frederick Titans (Leola, SD) in a B Region 1 bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Wilmot will attempt to upgrade on its 2-2 season record. The Titans go into the bout with a 1-1 record after their 52-49 non-league loss to Potter County co-op [Gettysburg/Hoven] (Gettysburg, SD).
