Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions (Kingsville, TX) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Mathis Pirates (Mathis, TX), 46-24 in a non-league bout.
With the win, Santa Gertrudis Academy upgrades its record to 8-13 on the season. The Lions host Falfurrias (Falfurrias, TX) to play the Fightin' Jerseys in a 3A Region IV District 30 bout on Saturday, January 6. The Fightin' Jerseys go into the bout with a record of 1-5. Falfurrias lost 40-30 in their recent non-league bout against Agua Dulce (Agua Dulce, TX)
Next up, the Pirates play the Marion Bulldogs (Marion, TX) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 2. Mathis will attempt to upgrade on its 1-14 season record. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a 4-15 record after their 61-21 non-league loss to Shiner (Shiner, TX).
