The West Cabarrus Wolverines basketball team (Concord, NC), was edged 41-38 in Saturday's non-league bout with the host Independence Patriots (Charlotte, NC)

With the win, Independence upgrades its record to 7-4 on the season. The Patriots host Providence (Charlotte, NC) to clash with the Panthers in a bout on Friday, January 5. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 3-5. Providence won 46-33 in their recent non-league bout against Porter Ridge (Indian Trail, NC)

Next up, the Wolverines clash with the South Iredell Vikings (Statesville, NC) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 3. West Cabarrus will attempt to upgrade on its 2-5 season record. The Vikings go into the bout with a 5-4 record after their 51-36 non-league loss to Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC).
