Next, the Longhorns encounter the Marlin Bulldogs (Marlin, TX) in a 2A Region III District 17 test, on Friday, January 3. Axtell will attempt to improve on its 11-8 season record. The Bulldogs come into the test with a 8-6 record after their 46-41 league win over Riesel (Riesel, TX).

The Eagles (5-15) will now prepare for their test against Chilton (Chilton, TX). The Pirates come into the 2A Region III District 17 test with a 8-9 record. In their last test, Chilton bounced Moody (Moody, TX), 39-36, in a league test.
