Phelps Hornets (Phelps, KY) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Elliott County Lions (Sandy Hook, KY), 65-61 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Phelps upgrades its record to 2-0 on the season. The Hornets host Mingo Central (Matewan, WV) to clash with the Miners in a non-league bout on Tuesday, December 5. The Miners go into the bout with a record of 0-0.

Next up, the Lions clash with the Raceland Rams (Raceland, KY) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, December 7. Elliott County will attempt to upgrade on its 0-3 season record. The Rams go into the bout with a 2-1 record after their 83-65 non-league win over Bath County (Owingsville, KY).
