Texas High School Basketball - Mercedes overwhelmed by Rivera

In Thursday's non-league test, the Rivera Raiders (Brownsville, TX) basketball squad routed the host Mercedes Tigers (Mercedes, TX), by a count of 49-28.

With the victory, Rivera advances its record to 6-5 on the year. The Raiders travel to La Joya (La Joya, TX) to meet the Coyotes in a non-league battle on Friday, December 5. The Coyotes enter the battle with a record of 10-6. La Joya lost 40-38 in their recent non-league battle against Sharyland (Mission, TX)

The Tigers now own a 3-10 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Donna for a 5A Region IV District 32 battle on Tuesday, December 9. Mercedes will encounter a Redskins team coming off a 61-45 non-league loss to Vela (Edinburg, TX). The Redskins record now stands at 9-7.
