Port Huron Big Reds (Port Huron, MI) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Utica Chieftains (Utica, MI), 35-34 in a league bout.

With the victory, Port Huron upgrades its record to 2-0 on the campaign. The Big Reds travel to Powers Catholic (Flint, MI) to play the Chargers in a non-league bout on Friday, December 9. The Chargers come into the bout with a record of 3-0. Powers Catholic won 38-31 in their recent non-league bout against Lapeer (Lapeer, MI)

Next up, the Chieftains play the Utica Eisenhower Eagles (Shelby Township, MI) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, December 8. Utica will attempt to upgrade on its 1-1 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 2-1 record after their 60-24 non-league win over Sterling Heights Stevenson (Sterling Heights, MI).
